Noel Gallagher asks to appear at court sentencing
Noel Gallagher has asked officials to allow him to appear in court in Ontario, Canada during the sentencing of the man who assaulted him on stage in Toronto during the 2008 Virgin Festival.
Guitarist Noel Gallagher (ex-Oasis) was attacked by Danny Sullivan on September 7, 2008 during the band’s performance at the 2008 V Festival. Back in November, crowd member Sullivan pleaded guilty for the attacks on Gallagher which left him with three broken ribs.
Roperts show that Ghallagher has requested to be allowed to read his victim impact statement in person and a request was made on February 5 by Ruth Kleinhenz, attorney, to the Ontario Court Justice. Defence lawyer John Collins asked for the request to be turned down so the guitarist could not “control the proceedings”.
The court date has postponed in order to to pick a later date at which Gallagher may be able to appear.
The guitarist is set to play his first post-Oasis shows for the Teenage Cancer Trust in March at the London Royal Albert Hall. The Teenage Cancer Trust gigs line-up is:
Depeche Mode (February 17)
Them Crooked Vultures (March 22)
Jimmy Carr, Noel Fielding and Rhod Gilbert (23)
Suede (24)
Noel Gallagher (25, 26)
Arctic Monkeys (27)
JLS (28)
The Who (30)
