Plant With Purpose: Not-For-Profit Of The Week

2 February 2010 167 views 2 Comments

From time to time I seem to browse to a website that is very interesting, and find a great humaniterian aid organization, sometimes a not-for-profit organization, and other times just a really cool site. These past few weeks I have been hard at work to help promote smaller and lesser known organizations people might not know about through my “Not-For-Profit of the week” campaign where I feature 1 not-for-profit organization on my website. Upon a brief sercah a few weeks ago I fell onto this site.

Plant With Purpose is this week’s “Not-For-Profit of the week”. Their website is really interactive and fun for even kids to play along with! It’s a really great educational tool for the younger age audience with a little flash ‘game’ as i call it where you browse a community and can but trees, and much more through donations! Check them out!

Plant With Purpose is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to helping the rural poor. Our three-part, environmental, economic, and spiritual approach to sustainable development transforms the communities and people we work with in the following ways.

1. Improved Quality of Life
As a result of our work, children and adults enjoy improved health, children attain higher levels of education and women experience greater equality and economic security.

2. Restored Relationships
Plant With Purpose initiatives help strengthen family relationships, the relationship between people and their environment, and the relationship between people and God.

3. Self Sufficiency
Our synergistic model of environmental and economic development teaches people to farm in ways that also protect the land, ensuring their long-term prosperity. As a result, these communities continue to thrive long after our work there ends.

What a cool site/idea. The video they have under “Trees Please” is visually awesome. I actually wanted to watch it and wasn’t bored by the end.

    Thank you very much Tracy!

I appreciate the kind words and hope you check out the previous Not-For-Profit of the week posts! Make sure to check back Tuesdays each week for a new one!

The reason I chose this week’s Plant For Purpose is because of the fact that the website has the feature of the “Grow A Village” which interacts and it feels like you are building a village through simple donations. You can watch the village grow in an interactive manner, which i think is great to educate the younger audience (Such as kids, and younger tweens!)

Thanks again for the comment! :) :)
