Amnesia Amnesia Post Instrumental For Vocal Tryouts

A few weeks ago we had announced that our boys in Amnesia Amnesia are looking for a new vocalist with the recent departure of Tyler. The band has since been working hard and getting their act together to make sure the next few steps taken by the band will be for the better. After a few weeks together they have finally recorded the INSTRUMENTAL for any vocalists who are wanting to try out for Amnesia Amnesia.

Amnesia Amnesia have been a solid for just over a year and have released two EPs. Their debut titled “Vs The Bear” through Blacktop Records across Canada in HMV and across the world digitally on iTunes and other web based music facilitations. During the summer of 09’ the band accepted change and completely reinvented themselves with a new sound and a new feel that will come to be known as “The Eating Disease” which was recorded in September 09’ in Niagara, Ontario.

Hey guys!

We’re stoked to tell you that the instrumental is all mixed and we are ready to really get the vocalist search started. If you are interested in being our vocalist, please e-mail me directly at jordanterencesalmon(at)gmail(dot)com (Or via the form below!).

Before you submit yourself for tryouts, please ask yourself the following questions:
-Is this really what I want to do?
-Am I going to make sacrifices when I have to?
-Will I be able to tour and live on the road?
-Am I willing to leave family/friends/loved ones to tour?

Be honest with yourself. We don’t want to kick it with a new vocalist and find out six months down the road that you really can’t handle it and you’ve got to quit. You must also understand that you will likely be poor as shit haha!

If you still really want to be apart of our band, please send me an email to my personal address that I posted above and I’ll discuss everything in further detail with you!

In the e-mail please include things that we should really know such as:

-Previous recordings if any
-Links to live videos if any
-Links to previous bands you have been in
-Tour history if any
-Age
-Are you in school or not
Etc.

If we feel that you are a real potential for being our vocalist, we will send you the instrumental and you can record vocals over top of it. We will not send the full instrumental as this IS a new song and we don’t want it floating around the internet.

Cannon is a four piece Alternative Rock band formed last year in Peterborough. The band has taken some time to compose original songs written by JD Cannon- Singer, Songwriter. Now they are ready for live performances. Cannon is JD Cannon-Singer, Songwriter and rhythm guitar player, Brian Mehlenbacher- Bass, Tyler Martin- Lead Guitar and Doug Soullere on Drums.

With roots stemming in Punk, Grunge, Pop, Folk, Metal and Rock this band has a very unique sound styling. Explosive at times and laid back and hypnotizing as well. Tyler Martin a local guitar teacher who branched out and joined Cannon as a side project to other bands he performs in. Tyler is a guitar player with the ability to take his playing to so many different levels arousing the attention of many modern guitar enthusiasts. Brian Mehlenbacher is also moonlighting for this project taking time away from a series of successful band projects that are rich in alternative pop sounds. As bass player for Cannon, he is taking a step back from his role as a lead guitar player and singer. Doug Soullere has a background in punk rock and keeps the beat in your face at all times driving this group forward.

JD Cannon’s writing expressions give the band a darker undertone that creates interesting subject matter for those wanting to connect to a story beyond the music. A great mix of music that comes together with powerful lyrics to ensure an original music experience for any fan of live music…

Dexter Photo Shoot Wrap Up

A longtime friend of mine (since we were basically like 1 year olds) contacted me a few days ago with a idea in mind and a vision to help promote some artists in the Durham Region/GTA and has been seeking some of my help and services. Expect big things to be coming to the music scene real soon!

With the launch of the new project Dexter wanted to get some shots taken to help promote the release. Since the site is still in the works and nothing is final, I thought I would only give you a small sample of what we can expect from this man and GET IT IN TV once it has been released!

No games, no gimmicks. Amnesia Amnesia calls Belleville, Ontario home when they’re not on tour. They’ve been a band for just over a year and have released their debut EP titled “Vs The Bear” through Blacktop Records across Canada in HMV and across the world digitally on iTunes and other web based music facilitations. Amnesia Amnesia toured Ontario with The Fallacy and To Cherish for the “Expanding Horizons” tour in May of 09’ to support “Vs The Bear”. Soon after this tour the band announced that lead singer Todd Barriage was leaving the band due to personal reasons and recruited singer Tyler Charlebois to fill his shoes.

During the summer of 09’ the band accepted change and completely reinvented themselves with a new sound and a new feel that will come to be known as “The Eating Disease”. Over the summer Amnesia Amnesia wrote constantly for their second release called “The Eating Disease” that was recorded in September 09’ in Niagara, Ontario. Shortly after the release of the second EP “The Eating Disease” it was announced that vocalist Tyler Charlebois was no longer a part of Amnesia Amnesia and they are currently looking for a new vocalist.

A new year, a new sound, new merchandise, a FREE new EP, and a lot of big things and surprises to come in the year of 2010. Keep your eyes on these guys or you’re going to miss out. Amnesia Amnesia also have no intention on slowing down without a vocalist and continue to write their album with their most mature songs to date

In Sepia – Photoshoot Wrap Up

TABITHA AND THE AMAZING PEOPLE IN IN SEPIA! THANK YOU!

These people were amazing enough to make a trip down from Ottawa to take some promos with me for Promos4Awareness! These are the most amazing individuals for having done so! I can’t thank them enough. They had spent the previous night in Cobourg and after a lot of confusion with the whole situation, we had finally got the chance to meet up and get these promos nailed down!

In Sepia is a sextuplet band out of Ottawa, Ontario, blasting our ears with some progressive/metal/hardcore tunes from the dirty undergrounds. Consisting of: Tabitha Grove (Microphone); Gabe Grove (Lead Guitar); Will Long (Second Guitar); Chase Patterson (Bass Maestro); Matt Freak’n Berry (Keyboards, Samples); Clyde Henderson (Drums) they combine their melodies and sounds to create some music for our enjoyments.

In Sepia decided to shoot some promos dedicated to help raise awareness about depression. This issue affects thousands of youths and millions of people around the world daily, for a variety of reasons. Most people do not know how to cope with it, and the issues can often be ignored and carefully hidden from their peers. Some people say that depression feels like a black curtain of despair coming down over their lives. Many people feel like they have no energy and can’t concentrate. Others feel irritable all the time for no apparent reason. The symptoms vary from person to person, but if you feel “down” for more than two weeks, and these feelings are interfering with your daily life, you may be clinically depressed.

If you are a youth and in need of some help, please reach out to your peers or check out the information available on this website! THERE IS HOPE!

Silverstein/Amnesia Amnesia Wrap Up

Friday February 26, 2010 was a good night!

After much confusion about the situation, I had made it down to Belleville to see Silverstein and my homeboys in Amnesia Amnesia at Matt & Joe’s (shout out to security guard Doug). The show had a solid crowd for a small town venue and was so intense that the hockey game was almost a blur to the audience.

ARADD: Photoshoot Wrap Up

It seems like it has been a while since I have gotten behind that lense and have created some spectacles for your eyes to see. To no adew, it was a long awaited photoshoot in the morning hours with a new band I would like to welcome to the Promos4Awareness family. After a little hiatus it was time to get back into the swing of things, and it was time to pick up where I had left off. I was contacted by a metal/hardcore band from Pickering, Ontario which were the nicest bunch of guys to work with.

I would like to welcome to the Promos4Awareness family: ARADD (Metal/Hardcore – Pickering, Ontario)

ARADD is a 5 piece metal band from Pickering Ontario. The band consists of Lead Vocalist Dylan Cooper and Drummer Michael Cernigliaro of To Hide Scars With Lies, Arcadia Lead Guitarist and vocalist Mason Milner, Michael Pupunkoski on rhythm and Justin Anderson On Bass.

Shoot Jounal:
After a early morning wake up and shower I was out the door and headed to the shoot. Headed over to the drummer’s house (Mike) and waited for the rest of the band to meet up with us (Plus two amazing dogs to pet!). Once the band all coagulated in the front entrance we headed out on a short stroll to the super-top-secret-amazing-epic-location for the photo shoot we had planned out. A quick walk through what seemed to be the largest forest in the world and we were ready to shoot.

Amnesia Amnesia looking for a new vocalist

Monday evening, Amnesia Amnesia posted a blog announcing the departure of vocalist Tyler and asking if anyone is interested in being their new lead vocalist. They will shortly be recording an instrumental of one of their new songs which will be on the album very soon at Newcomb Studios and will let everyone know when that will be posted for anyone interested in vocal tryouts. For the time being they are currently asking all inquiries to send along the following information:

New singer search.

Hey guys,

We are posting this blog to let you know that Tyler will no longer be in Amnesia Amnesia. We wish him luck in anything he does in the future and we hope the best for him.

WE WILL NOT BE DROPPING OUR FEBRUARY SHOWS. We will be playing every single one of these dates, cross our hearts! We will have a fill in for these shows, and we will announce that soon.

All of that being said, it is time to start the new vocalist search. We are recording an instrumental of one of our new songs which will be on the album very soon at Newcomb Studios and we will let everyone know when we put that up for vocal tryouts.

Until that song is up, please message us and show us previous bands you have been in if any, and hopefully we’ll set up a date to practice with you and see how things go.

This is nowhere near the end of Amnesia Amnesia, we have been through this before and it only made us better so please, remain stoked for this album.

INTERVIEW: Everyone’s Talking

I sat down and had a chance to interview one of this month’s feature artist, Piano-Rock band Everyone’s Talking. Their new album came out recently which was produced by one and only David Bottrill (Moneen, Coheed And Cambria, Circa Survive) I caught up with them and asked them about a few things including their experience in working with David Bottrill.

Check out what they had to say about the experience and so much more.

1. For those who might not know who you are, can you introduce yourself and your band?

(Dani) – I play keys, write and sing. Our band Everyone’s Talking is awesome and is a blend of warm pop tunes and gritty prog. We call it Piano-Rock.

(Evan) – I sing, play guitar, and write. Everyone’s Talking was started by Dani and myself and we’ve been writing together for the last few years. In the live setting as a band, we like to extend our genre of piano-rock into jam band territory by expanding on our musical ideas. I think it’s a great way to keep things fresh for us and keep audiences engaged.

2. You guys recently released DRAGONFLIES which was produced by David Bottrill (Moneen, Coheed And Cambria, Circa Survive). How was that experience for you guys?

(D) – David Bottrill is a fantastic engineer and a fascinating man who has worked with some amazing artists. However, the recording of the album wasn’t the best experience. It was quite stressful because we had two weeks to handle everything. I guess that’s what happens when you try to get your album produced by him while staying independent. Nevertheless, we are quite happy with the result. Hopefully next time we’ll have about half-a-year to record, mix, and master our album.

3. The album came out online and is based off of “Pay what you want” download, where did that idea come from?

(D) – Our main inspiration for this method came from Radiohead of course, and their game-changing In Rainbows release. I think they set an example for everyone that music does not have a set price tag, and that bands can get paid by the support of their fans. Plus, I think that for an independent band, this is the best way to go. Give people the opportunity to check out the band’s debut album for whatever they think is fair.

(E) – Amongst ourselves and our peer group I’ve noticed the decline in physical CD sales. It would be naive of us to think that we would be 1 of 3 CD purchases they make this year, and that’s if they make any. So it was our goal to make our record as accessible as possible. It’s not a be all end all solution but for now it’s a step in the right direction.

4. Has the album (Dragonflies) been well received thus far? Where can we download Dragonflies?

(E) – The songs have been received well. It’s a very diverse mix of tracks and everyone seems to have a different favorite. I’m still digesting all the reactions. I hear it’s good from people all the time but the goal isn’t to be good. Great art receives polarized reactions.

(D) – It was great to hear fans feedback from all over the globe. This is another advantage to the ‘Pay What You Want’ method. We had responses from places other than Canada, like Mexico, UK, Russia, Israel and more. Anyone could download the album on www.everyonestalking.net or on our myspace page.

5. Now that the album is out and circulating, what’s the next step for Everyone’s Talking?

(D) – The next step is more like a few dozen steps. Our main goal is to complete our full band lineup by getting a permanent drummer and bassist on board for the live show. Among other things, we have a load of new songs to record, videos and video-blogs to film, plus we hope to get on a tour.

6. Where can we check out a Everyone’s Talking show? Any shows coming up you would like to advertise for?

(E) – We’re constantly announcing shows on our Facebook and Myspace pages. Join them and keep checking back for updates. We always like to hear from fans on those pages, feel free to send us messages, it helps us know where to point our efforts.

7. Do you guys think the music industry is getting involved enough with not-for-profit organizations?

(E) – Musicians play a huge role in helping raise awareness and funds for not-for-profit organizations because music is the most powerful way to bring people together around a cause. All the acts that I look up to are involved with not-for-profit organization in one way or another.

Talking in general, let’s not forget that the music industry is a very image driven business and as long as working with not-for-profits is seen as a positive then we’re only going to see more involvement from the music industry.

8. Do you guys currently work closely or collaborate with any not-for-profit organizations?

(E) – Last month after the disaster in Haiti we announced that all profits from album sales in that week will be donated to Doctors Without Boarders. As well I cut my long hair recently an donated it to get turned into wigs for cancer patients. It’s a start but I hope to do more over the next few years.

9. It’s no secret that the Toronto Music Scene is slowly disappearing with the closure of massive venues, where do you think it will be within the next few years?

(E) – As one venue closes another one opens. Toronto is a vibrant multi-cultural city and music will always be a huge part of it but because of its diversity as a city we’re supporting many musical niches. The rock show is no longer the hottest ticket in town but neither is any other ticket.

(D) – Toronto has some great bands and although the scene here is rather limited, I believe the music will find its way. I can’t wait to visit other cities and explore music scenes all over the world.

We Are Alaska Photo Shoot

Today I did some promos with We Are Alaska since their lineup has changed. With the departure of their drummer (and being replaced by their new drummer Apple iPod) it was an opportunity to get together again and do a quick photo shoot. So, we got together an yet another cold day in this strange winter we have been having, and did a quick photo shoot.

The theme came to me as I awoke in the morning with the idea of picture frames.So I headed on to the flea market and bought a lot of really cheap picture frames and hung them off a tree and then we had some fun. Throw in a few lollipops (for Sai, since she has a lollipop at all our shoots!) and there you have it. A surreal “avant garde” photo shoot. Or at least that’s what we called it.
