While walking through the Kensington Market with a friend of mine last weekend on a rainy day, I stumbled upon a little store that sold cupcakes. Well, it was more of a formal decision on the part of my friend to wander around this store. The store itself? A type of flea market. Blue Banana Market
After wandering the grounds, and finding a cupcake carrier (which i did infact purchase), we wandered upstairs to a fun filled adventure awaiting ahead of us. Off into the right hand corner was a little section of …

This month’s campaign focuses on literature, and therefore I have decided to feature a nonprofit which focuses on literacy. We all take reading for granted, and sometimes forget that some people are not fortunate enough to be able to read.
Newspapers, Television headlines, the internet, and everything around is is filled and saturated with text; yet so many of us are unable to read it. The U.S. Department of Education’s 2003 statistics suggest that 14% of the population – or 32 million adults – have very low literacy skills. Of the …

This week with all the hype of Travie McCoy’s new album Lazarus (Read Our Review Here) having just come out a few weeks ago (June 8th), I will honour his homage to his MTV STAYING ALIVE FOUNDATION: Unbeaten Track life changing adventure.
This adventure sent Travie through South Africa, Philippines and India, to meet with young people who are running remarkable grass-roots HIV and AIDS awareness projects – all of which are supported by the Staying Alive Foundation – MTV’s AIDS charity.
For it’s involvement in projects such as The Unbeaten Track, and idealistic …

Thousands and thousands of children are in lesser living conditions as you are at this current point and time. And none of them have any way to help themselves, no matter how much they want to help better their living expectancy. Imagine being stuck in the longest running war in your country, and not having a way to help yourself, or others. This is what I will be focusing on this week.
Africa has been caught in the middle of what has been known to be the longest running war in …

A good friend, and official partner of Promos4Awareness Rachel, creator of No Touchie Sharks, had made me sit down last night and watch Whale Wars, and since today is World Ocean Day, I thought which better not-for-profit organization than the Sea Shepherds for today.
The Sea Shepherds are a activist group founded by Paul Watson who had been forced to part ways with Greenpeace in an 11 to 1 vote, the 1 vote being his own. Sea Shepherds focus on the protection of underwater wildlife, mostly known for their protection campaign …

I have met a few people within the past few months who frequent my site, and they are all amazing young ladies. Some with such great talent, which they do not realise, and some who are afraid to admit who they are.
This week this post is dedicated to them, and I am sure the ones reading this will know exactly who they are. Here’s to you!

This week’s not for profit organization of the week is brought to you by something which will be close to many people, even though some of us may be ignorant. I was given a bracelet by Rachel (Thanks!) to add to my nifty collection (rounding up about 30 now) and it was simply a band of blue text on a white bracelet displaying ”Am I Number 12?”
I decided to browse to the Am I Number12.Org website, and found a wonderful site focused on Hepatitis! This is something many people are uneducated …
